Duct Tape the World!

{Hey Everybody! We’ve got a guest blogger here on Everyday Life at Leisure for today! Welcome Patti Wallenfang, Leisure Arts designer and creator of all the projects in our new duct tape craft pattern book—Go Crazy with Duct Tape as she shares her fascination with duct tape and how it all came about!}

There I was. Minding my own business with a glue gun and endless amounts of craft supplies. Sequins, felt, jewels, feathers, paint, fancy papers, and scissors. All that stuff. You know, tubs and tubs of the stuff you buy at the craft store for projects you never make! HAHAHA! If you think this is some ordinary craft nut talking, it’s not. This is someone who should get the respect she deserves. I own the complete mondo jumbo 150 set of fancy-colored art pencils. Expensive. That’s what I’m talking about…

Then…WTT? (What the tape?)… I’m walking through my fave craft store, and I find out duct tape isn’t just silver anymore! When did this happen? Where have I been? Who forgot to tell me about this, and I wanna know NOW!

That very day my life was changed. The angels sang. OMT. (Oh, my tape!) There is NOTHING in this world you can’t create, reinvent, recycle, cover, or reuse with duct tape!

So now, I am eaten up with duct tape ideas. I see the world in whole new way. Everything I look at, everywhere I go, I am thinking about duct tape and what to make next…

Best thing of all, sniff, sniff…I’m not alone. I had tears in my eyes when I found out about the thousands of people out there who are just like me. We’re in a special club, we are. Just like me, you guys want to own all the patterns of tape and make cool stuff every day. We’re special people. We get “IT”. I call us the “TAPE-rs”. Stuck on it. We won’t be satisfied until we cover the world in tape!!

I’ll post some of mine, too. I covered some boots from the resale store that look pretty cool. I really like making stuff you can wear. Gets lots of attention, and I like that!

I also want to show you a picture of my duct tape ball. Kinda like the rubber band balls you’ve seen only way cooler and better. Anyway, I was throwing away all my tape scraps, and one day I got this brilliant idea to start a tape ball. Okay. It’s not that brilliant. However, I AM proud of myself for thinking of it! The ball is much heavier than it looks. Geez! I don’t how I’m gonna get that $100 bill I put in the middle back out…hahahaha!
